The first post-salary cap dynasty?

arguable...but anyway

They did a lot of good last offseason with regards to how screwed they were. As someone who thoroughly enjoys the cap management/team construction aspect of hockey...it will be another fun offseason to follow the blackhawks

very hard to make it through the central that many times in a row

The summer will be interesting and a decision needs to be made with TT.
Because if he can't get strong enough to play center on the 2nd or 3rd line, then he
becomes Bowman's biggest trade chip. I think the 2nd line is the best fit....AA can play 3rd line.

But can TT matchup against big centers in the West??
His future here is not to play alongside grinders...

I watched the game last night, and it was amazing. As a Pens fan, I had no stake in the outcome, but truth be told, it was not hard to imagine the Hawks coming back and winning, as they have proven so capable in doing.

I'm certain they'll be back again next year and highly competitive.

Good write up, JJ.

St. Louis definitely deserves a tip of the cap. They played a really great series. They could have easily froze like a deer in the headlights after we climbed back into this series and climbed back in the game last night. But they stood tall. Proud of the Hawks also, though. They could have done the same thing being down 3-1, but they never give up and pushed it until the final seconds.

I am curious to hear your thoughts about Shaw. He looked really good in those seven games. Is there any way we bring him back? People seem to think Hartman can replace him.

Great series Hawks

You guys were a bounce or two away from winning the series

Always hard to take out the champs

It will be interesting to see if they move Shaw this off season

Going to be interesting to see what SB can do with the cap constraints and trying to improve an already loaded roster

I think Teravainen needs to get moved for #3-4 cost controlled D-man. This team does NOT need another perimeter player. Teravianen was invisible in this series on nearly every shift he played and there is no way Schmaltz can't at least match what TT brings.

I think Weise should be brought back if Stan can sign him for less than 1.75 mil. He has upside as a Shaw type player and I think I he can learn Q's system.

I don't see how they bring back Shaw unless he takes a HTD.

Ladd gone unless they move Hossa. Fleischman gone.

I still can't get over that post to post shot. Was certain that was going in after the first post. Great series and a great game 7. Thought the handshake moment between Panarin and Tarasenko was awesome too

Feel like the obvious, but highly disheartening, reality is to see what the market value of Shaw is... So, what is the market value of Shaw? And trust me, I do NOT want to see him go

Loved seeing the Jets only make the playoffs once since returning to the NHL, and then flame out in Round 1. Have they won a playoff game since returning to the NHL?

yeah this sucks,,,,,they had tired legs,,,bottom line,,they need defensemen we know that--so does Stan,,,he tried getting Hamhuis but he didnt want to leave Vancouver--Shaw and TT both will be gone,,but you need to rid one of the Big Contracts,,,,,Hossa/Crawford/Seabrook--call the Oilers up they would DIE for Seabs..When the league gets another Team,,,,let them have Hossa-Find some veteran players who just need a Cup on their resume to be complete---they will take next to nothing,,,

TT will never match up against the big centers in the WCF and isn't fair to expect it. But he is very cap friendly for one more year at least and that is why he will be back. Bowman isn't going to find an equivalent asset on the trade market earning the same money.

Weise is looking at anywhere from 3-4mill per year for 3-5 years... in the open market. Maybe 2.5 per for 5-6years... this is his last deal and first chance at getting a decent payday...

moving Hossa extremely unlikely... the guy has been a beast for the Hawks and put them over the top for the cup. future HOF'r. not going anywhere....

He's the only feasible trade chip and if you are correct that he can't match up then now is the time for him to go.

This. TT needs to get moved for a D-man and Stan needs to make the numbers work.

Why would you enjoy watching Ladd lose? Winnipeg didn't want to resign him, and buried him in the bottom 6 for much of last season which ruined his trade value.

Could you see a TT and Bickel + Pick for a young cost controlled defenseman?

I only throw the pick in because Bickel kind of drags down TT's value

They will probably buyout Bickel versus moving another pick.
